Champions Celebrities Shine at Charity Ball


On Friday 29th January, an array of celebrities and well-known faces gathered together at the King Power Stadium to revel in another fabulous year at the 15th Annual Champions Celebrity Charity Ball. Not only was the star-studded guest list treated to an evening of exceptional 007 themed entertainment and dining, but the event, organised by midlands-based brand agency Champions (UK) plc, offered an excellent opportunity to raise funds and awareness for Rainbows Children’s Hospice. The glamourous night was hosted by snooker’s Mr Maximum, Willie Thorne, who headed up the impressive list of attendees, including Coronation Street legend William Roache MBE, 2003 rugby World Cup winner Neil Back MBE, X Factor’s Monica Michael and Nicholas McDonald, BGT’s Richard and Adam Johnson, Olympian Derek Redmond, and The Apprentice’s Mergim Butaja to name but a few. After a lavish champagne reception in true Bond style, X Factor finalist Nikki Evans wowed the room with a spectacular rendition of some of the best-loved Bond themes, followed by a sumptuous five course meal. The fundraising activities included an auction hosted by Olympic hero Derek Redmond, providing the chance for guests to bid for some exquisite prizes, including tickets to Adele’s sold out concert at the London O2 Arena and an incredible 7 night stay in the 5 star UNNA Resort in Barbados. Dominic Gomersall of Lumbers Jewellers kindly donated an Omega Auqaterra James “007” Bond Men’s Watch, designed especially for the 2015 Spectre film, which was also be up for auction. The funds raised on the evening will help to ensure that Rainbows can continue their important work, offering respite care and support for children affected by life-threatening and life shortening illnesses alongside their families. Champions have raised over one million pounds in the past 8 years for Rainbows, aiding the continuation of their vital endeavours within the community. The night culminated in the magnificent talents of The Overtures, who gave a magnificent performance of 60’s hits such as Twist & Shout, I’m A Believer and California Dreamin’. Soul Kind Wonderful also delighted guests with their exceptional offering of renditions of Ben E King, The Drifters and The Temptations best-known tracks. A much-anticipated annual event every year, this year’s 15th Annual Champions Celebrity Charity Ball provided a dazzling night of celebration, entertainment and extravagance, and was a fantastic culmination of another year of triumph for Champions and their clients.
