One of motorsport’s most illustrious names will be in action at Donington Park this weekend (16-17 April), as Enzo Fittipaldi, grandson of multiple world champion Emerson Fittipaldi, will do battle in the Ginetta Junior Championship. On the support card of the headlining British Touring Car Championship (BTCC), the 14-year-old Fittipaldi from Brazil, will be aiming to impress in a series renowned for developing future talent. Fittipaldi has already proven himself as a rising star to watch for the future, having secured three karting championships in three years, as well as winning 34 races and 21 pole positions. His move to cars saw him finish inside the top-12 at the opening round at Brands Hatch, and is looking forward to making his Donington debut this weekend: “I’m really looking forward to racing at Donington Park and improving from where I left off at Brands Hatch” he commented. “Donington Park is a circuit with a lot of history and is considered one of the legendary tracks in England, so I can’t wait to get out there and drive it!” Enzo is the latest member of the Fittipaldi family to start a racing career. Grandfather Emerson was F1 World Champion in 1972 and 1974, and won the Indy 500 in 1989 and 1993, and great uncle Wilson also raced in F1 in the 1970s. Wilson’s son Christian was an F1 racer in the 1990s, while Enzo’s brother Pietro is climbing the ladder to F1 having raced in F4 and Formula Renault in the UK, before moving up to Formula 3 and Formula V8 3.5 in recent years. Enzo will race three times at Donington Park this weekend in the Ginetta Junior Championship, with the series also featuring Castle Donington racer Tom Wood. Ginetta Juniors supports the famed British Touring Cars which will do battle once more at Donington Park, with further action from Renault UK Clio Cup, Ginetta GT4 SuperCup and Ford MSA Formula. Tickets for the British Touring Car Championship at Donington Park on 16-17 April are available in advance from the official website www.donington-park.co.uk until 5pm on Wednesday 13 April. Tickets will also be available to purchase upon arrival at the circuit.
