Deli in the Square shortlisted

Shortlist Announced for Midlands Best Deli 2016

The 10 shortlisted shops competing for the title of Midlands Best Deli have today been announced.

The BBC Good Food Shows team in conjunction with BBC Good Food have been scouring the Midlands in search of the very best Deli in the area.

Shortlisted are:

• The Deli in Boldmere

• Anderson & Hill, Birmingham

• Basilia, Nottingham

• Deli In The Square, Leicester

• Delice Deli & Café, Loughborough

• Legges of Bromyard, Herefordshire

• Old Theatre Deli, Southwell

• Pronto, Stoke-On-Trent

• Squisito, Northamptonshire

• The Eight Foot Grocer, Birmingham

The winner will receive a free stand at the BBC Good Food Show Winter at the NEC from 24 – 27 November 2016 to showcase their shop to tens of thousands of food loving visitors.

Barney Desmazery, Food Editor at large, BBC Good Food and judge for Midlands Best Deli 2016 says, “I’m really pleased to form part of this year’s judging panel once again. This is the fifth year we have run this competition and it’s a fantastic opportunity for Midlands’ farm shops and delis to promote themselves to thousands of food fans from the region and ultimately win at stand at the BBC Good Food Show. I’m looking forward to seeing this year’s entries!”

The shortlisted delis will be visited by judges who will be looking at the following:

- Range of international and local produce

- Quality and value of produce

- Product knowledge and enthusiasm

- Customer service

- Services, facilities and community involvement
