Women in Business Awards success

Leicestershire Women in Business Awards 2016: Evening was a roaring success

On Tuesday, businesswomen from across Leicestershire were crowned winners of the second annual Leicestershire Women in Business Awards.

The awards, held in association with BHIB Insurance Brokers, aim to recognise the best and brightest female workers within their industries in the city and county.

The ceremony was held at the City Rooms, in Leicester, and guests were treated to a delicious three course meal.

The host of the evening was Emma Jesson, ITV Weather Presenter.

Rachel Curtis-Bowen, chief customer officer at Cambridge and Counties Bank and winner of last year's Rising Star award, and Jitendra Patel, of BHIB Insurance Brokers, also gave entertaining and inspiring speeches.

Mercury publisher and managing director David Simms said: "What these awards aim to do is highlight the success and achievements of some of the region's most remarkable businesswomen.

"These awards represent business success at its best and it's a great showcase for businesswomen who have positive and successful stories to tell.

"We need to be reminded, at times, that there are sectors and businesses, through great leadership, that have bucked the economic trend of late and tonight is a rightful celebration of excellence and performance.

"The 12 award categories demonstrate that Leicestershire businesswomen are achieving success at all levels. And it is both leaders of small and large businesses that have made it through to the final stages of an intense competition.

"This is only the second year of these awards and we have been genuinely impressed by both the quality and quantity of entries. We have been impressed too by the great variety of local businesses run by women."
