Leading Asian healthcare professionals have formed a new medical society dedicated to caring for the community using their network of innovative minds.
The Leicester Asian Doctors Society (LADS) was set up this year by Founding Members Dr. D R Jawahar (GP), Mr T K Sankar (Plastic Surgeon), Dr. A Moorthy (Rheumatologist), Dr. Muthusamy (Anesthetist), and Mr. P Kumar (Ophthalmologist).
The members will be using Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, lectures, meetings and the web to provide a platform of support and education for Asian doctors and their families.
Any doctor with General Medical Council (GMC) registration living in or around Leicestershire is encouraged to join and gain support from LADS. The community will also benefit as the group will share their knowledge and practices to provide better healthcare to the community and carry out charity work.
Continuing Medical Education (CME) programmes organised by the society will take place twice a year enabling its members to deliver high quality care to their patients and opens opportunities to gain bursaries to fund local and international healthcare research.
This October, LADS put on their very first event. The Grand Inauguration of the society celebrating the launch of the website, CME, the felicitation of three senior doctors and a luxury dinner and dancing.
