Local hairdresser works backstage at London Fashion Week Men’s
Local hairdresser Evie Hepworth, designer at Barrie Stephen Hair on King Street in Leicester, worked backstage recently at one of the fashion industry’s most prestigious events, London
Fashion Week Men’s.
Evie joined a team of Schwarzkopf Professional hairdressers backstage assisting session stylist Soichi Inagaki for the Alex Mullins AW17 show. It was an incredibly fast paced environment, with hairdressers, make-up artists, models, directors, photographers, journalists, bloggers and PRs
working closely to get the male models catwalk-ready.
The brief for the show had a 70’s and 80’s vibe with the colour palette and patterns within the clothing reflected in the hair. Evie and the team created textured styles with a matte finish, differing from one model to the next depending on their outfits and styling. The fashion collection itself from Alex Mullins explored patchwork, outerwear and two-toned patterns.
“Working backstage at the Alex Mullins show was an amazing experience! It was great to meet Soichi, our lead stylist. He was so great to work with and made us all feel at ease and was so grateful for all of our hard work. The day went really quickly as it was pretty manic! The pressure was on for the whole team to have all the models ready on time for the catwalk. But it was a fantastic day and I learnt lots of new techniques to take back to the salon.”
