One of Leicestershire’s leading jewellery designers and manufacturers is planning for its future by bringing in fresh and exciting new talent whilst also updating its physical showroom as well as its online showroom.
Founded in 1979 by its namesake, Cathy Stephens Jewellery has recently completed a showroom refurbishment and new-look website, has launched a brand new Collection and welcomed a new jewellery maker into the business, one of Cathy’s four daughters – Tiffany.
Speaking about the year so far, Cathy’s eldest daughter, Pippa Arkle Stephens, who runs the business said, “It has certainly been a very busy year for us all and one that is all about positioning the business for the future.
“The new Collection is called the Grace Collection and uses platinum and diamonds and is extremely elegant. The Collection combines the natural fluid style of Cathy herself with the sleek, minimal form produced by Tiffany. It really is a collaborative Collection between mother and daughter. We named it the Grace Collection as Grace is Tiffany’s middle name and so we felt it was perfect.”
Cathy Stephens Jewellery was established in 1979 after Cathy switched from wanting to be a blacksmith to discovering jewellery making after completing a degree in art and design at Loughborough College. Cathy went on to work for a number of jewellery manufacturers before setting up on her. Cathy created the designs and her husband, Michael, sold them. Now the next generation has joined the business and is keen to take it forward. However, Pippa and Tiffany both describe Cathy Stephens Jewellery as a family business in the truest sense of the term with the siblings both having worked in the shop since the age of 14. Adds Pippa, “We are proud to be a family business. There are family members working here but we also have people in the business that have been here for a long, long time. Our workshop manager Chris and shop manager Sam have both been here for over 30 years plus making them a real part of the family too!”
Cathy Stephens Jewellery stocks gold, silver and unusual stone Collections as well as select Collections from other manufacturers, plus Cathy and now Cathy and Tiffany’s Collections. “There truly is something here for everyone and we are always delighted to welcome people in for a browse. We also create bespoke commissioned pieces for customers too. Sometimes it’s a request to update a piece which perhaps they inherited or were gifted, or they may have an idea about the perfect ring or necklace that they would like us to make a reality,” said Pippa.
Cathy Stephens Jewellery is also running a Christmas Design Week from Saturday 25th November to Sunday 3rd December. Cathy will be available to design and re-design in time for Christmas.
