Elona Jetullahu, a Marketing Executive at Enderby-based Mocha Marketing, is proud to become the Young People’s Ambassador as part of Soft Touch Arts’ Management Board.
Established in 1986, Soft Touch Arts, based on New Walk in the city centre, uses arts, media and music, to support disadvantaged young people, helping them develop creative, social and employability skills. The charity also believes that this creativity enables young people to have positive choices about their future and helps them to build self-belief and confidence.
As part of her new role, Elona will keep track of the activities young people take interest in at Soft Touch Arts, so the charity can continue to support their needs and development.
Elona says, “Soft Touch Arts will always hold a special place in my heart for all sorts of reasons. It’s a fantastic charity which really goes above and beyond for young people and gives them the opportunity to build the skills they’ll need for later on in their lives. I have a background in music and art – which are two of my strongest passions – and I’m really excited to bring my skills to Soft Touch Arts as the Young People’s Ambassador.”
Prior to joining Mocha Marketing, Elona was an apprentice with the charity, where she had the opportunity to see first-hand the great work that the charity does. Seeing how young people overcome difficulties and thrive as a result of the support from Soft Touch Arts always gave Elona immense pride during her apprenticeship year and she was fittingly honoured with receiving the ‘Apprentice of the Year’ award at the 2017 Leicester Mercury Women in Business Awards.
Christina Wigmore, a Director at Soft Touch Arts who mentored and worked closely with Elona during her internship, says, “We’re so pleased to welcome Elona to back to Soft Touch Arts as the Young People’s Ambassador. Having seen how hard Elona worked during her apprenticeship, we’re certain that she will bring great passion and enthusiasm to her role and be a strong advocate for young people that we support. She really understands what Soft Touch Arts stands for and does and we’re excited to see the ideas she will no doubt bring.”
Elona has long had a passion for giving back to her local community and believes that being the Young People’s Ambassador will be a great way for her to continue doing this.
