Sturgess Hyundai Loughborough becomes the first retailer in Leicester to receive electric vehicle approved accreditation
We are delighted to announce that Sturgess Hyundai based in Anstey has recently been awarded approval under the Electric Vehicle Approved (EVA scheme).
The Electric Vehicle Approved (EVA) scheme was developed by the National Franchised Dealers Association (NFDA) in May 2019 to recognise retailers’ excellence in the electric vehicle sector. EVA is endorsed by the Government’s Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) and the Energy Saving Trust (EST).
The scheme includes a set of standards for electric vehicle retail and aftersales that have been established to ensure that the automotive industry is ready to embrace the electrification of the UK car market.
The EVA accreditation is awarded to individual dealership locations that are independently audited by the Energy Saving Trust. The independence of this process gives consumers the certainty that a retailer with the EVA accreditation is a leader in the sector.
Buying a plug-in vehicle can be more complex than purchasing an Internal Combustion Engine vehicle, due to several new factors requiring consideration at the time of purchase. These include battery range, average daily mileage and the availability of charge points.
As a result, retailers need to be able to answer all the questions a customer may have and explain the benefits of owning an electric vehicle as well as clarifying any possible confusion. The EVA scheme aims to recognise expertise and promote industry standards to benefit the consumer and support the growth of the electric vehicle sector.
Chris Sturgess, Chairman of Sturgess Motor Group said, “We are delighted to be part of the EVA scheme which acts to promote expertise and excellence in electric car knowledge and support. There is no question that electric cars are going to be an important part of the car market in the future and customers who are considering an electric car need the best advice on all aspects of EV ownership. We are fortunate that Hyundai offers brilliant EV products with the Ioniq and Kona and there will be more to come.”
Ben Love, the on-site EV ambassador for Sturgess Hyundai said: “The demand for electric vehicles is growing, and the technology is different from a petrol or diesel car. Customers are often uncertain as to what is the best option for them and the EVA accreditation proves that we are well positioned to be able to offer the right advice.”
Sue Robinson, Director of the National Franchised Dealers Association (NFDA), said: “Congratulations to Sturgess Hyundai Loughborough on obtaining their Electric Vehicle Approved (EVA) accreditation. Franchised retailers have an extremely important role to play to favour the transition to EVs. We are confident the EVA badge will support retailers in communicating their EV expertise to the consumer”.
