Children and parents at one of Leicester’s oldest schools are looking forward to a bright academic future following its recent sale to Leicester Grammar School on 6 May.
Stoneygate School which is based on a 45 acre site in Great Glen, provides pre-school, pre-prep and prep for both boys and girls feeding secondary schools in the Leicestershire and Rutland area. It has a proud record of pupils who have gained scholarships and bursaries in academic, sports and musical disciplines with a current pupil role of 196.
Business and financial advisers Grant Thornton UK LLP led the transaction on behalf of Stoneygate School. Eddie Williams, Partner in Grant Thornton's Midlands Advisory business commented:
"I am delighted to have supported this sale, not only on behalf of Stoneygate School but for the children, parents and the 57 staff who can look forward to being part of the Leicester Grammar School educational offering. Following the decision of the owners of the school to retire, an agreement between two of Leicester's most well regarded schools had considerable benefits and I wish them all the very best for the future."
Grant Thornton has its East Midlands office in Leicester, where it has approximately 160 staff providing business and financial advice across Corporate and Personal Tax, audit and assurance, employer solutions, corporate finance, and sustainability, to organisations across the East Midlands.
