The Cross Productions team prepare for the second Niche business awards
The Niche Magazine Business Awards are approaching and the excitement is brewing in the Niche offices. The event will take place 9th September at The Athena in Leicester city centre's cultural quarter, where entrepreneurs, retailers, and influential personalities in business will unite.
Niche Magazine was created by Jenny Cross under umbrella company Cross Productions as a platform to recognise, support and bring together local businesses. The annual awards celebrate the unique stories behind each business and their accomplishments.
Glynis Wright of Glynis Wright & Co Family Solicitors said: “I’ve been involved with Niche probably for the last three years. I met Jenny at a networking event. Her magazine was growing about the same time that my company was growing and I immediately saw that we would make a great partnership together. I took a punt on Niche and started advertising. I became involved in the networks and then from there, I became a sponsor of the Niche Awards and it’s been absolutely fantastic. Niche have been supporting local businesses and I want to do the same. Niche are the most energetic magazine I’ve ever come across but then they’re so much more than just a magazine. They are all about our local business community and they arrange these fantastic events where we all get a chance to publicise ourselves and get our name out there into the local business community.”
As the second event of its kind, the Niche business awards are something that has been looked forward to by companies across all kinds of industries throughout Leicestershire over the year. The inaugural ceremony last year was a highlight for all. Guests were treated to a 007 themed occasion complete with casino games to gamble for charities, live entertainment and a fancy three course dinner.
This year, the Athena will sport a Las Vegas theme and feature a plethora of great attractions and entertainment.
In the run up, companies and individuals have been nominated for by the public over 17 categories including Eco Business, Trade & Construction, Charity of the Year and Shaping Tomorrows Leaders.
A huge amount of interest was given for the awards networking event announcing the semi-finalists on the 12th July. The office phones were constantly ringing the week before with people wanting to book last minute places to attend.
Taking place at the offices of MNE Accounting, Niche hosted a fantastic get together for over 120 people. Delicious gourmet street food hot dogs were supplied by local company Big Daddies Diner, who were brilliant in arranging Niche’s urgent last minute plans to increase the offering for 100 people to over 120 as they attempted to best accommodate all those who wanted to be present.
Editor of Niche Magazine, Lee Parkin said: “We’re all massively excited about the awards as they’re gaining so much momentum. It feels great to be representing and recognising small and independent businesses alongside the more established enterprises. The awards will bring local businesses together in a fun networking event and I am very much looking forward to the night. We have collaborated with event host Kate Solomons from Kreative Group, formerly known as ModelZed and have connected with many other businesses to help make the event a success.”
With such a great amount of interest at the announcement of the semi-finalists, the big night looks set to be sold out and a huge celebration for all.
