The best in business: The Niche Business Awards

September 15, 2016

The glitz and glamour of Las Vegas came to the Athena in Leicester in September as the long awaited Niche Business Awards ceremony took place. The very best of Leicestershire’s businesses all came together to share their knowledge, celebrate their peers’ victories within specific business industry categories and dance the night away in a stunning venue while raising money for Bodie Hodges Foundation.

Cross Productions, the company behind the Niche Business Awards has been championing Leicestershire businesses for the past three years through the medium of its successful print magazine and its networking events that have become integral to many businesses’ event calendar. In 2014, the company set the wheels in motion for a ceremony that was to recognise, reward and celebrate East Midlands, in particular Leicestershire’s, success stories under one roof, and the Niche Business Awards were created.

The first event in 2015 was a resounding success, held at the Athena in the Cultural Quarter and played host to a bountiful bunch of businesses, both established and up and coming. It was a glamorous evening that paid homage to James ‘007’ Bond, with casino tables and martinis in their abundance, and this year, we saw the casino tables return as the theme was based around Las Vegas and all its indulgence.

Businesses such as Emma Brown Hair Salon, Barrie Stephen, Lumbers Jewellers, the Italian restaurant Sapori and charities Soft Touch Arts and Bodie Hodges Foundation walked away with the coveted first prizes for outstanding service, innovation and business acumen within their respected fields. Winners were asked to collect their trophy up on stage and were able to thank those that had helped to catapult their businesses to such heights.

"We’re so excited and proud to have won the Niche Business Award for Health & Beauty.” Quotes Emma Brown of Emma Brown Hair Salon. “In the few short years we have been open, we’ve seen some fantastic growth, both in our customer base but also in our staff and the level and number of services we are able to offer. We want to say a big thank you to Cross Productions who have supported us through our nomination and we are looking forward to continuing our relationship with such an inspiring brand”
The event raised a fantastic £1345.00 for Bodie Hodges Foundation, a local charity that was set up to raise money to purchase a holiday home where bereaved parents and families of children under 18, can go to rest, rebuild and reconnect with one another. The charity is in memory of Bodie Hodges who tragically passed away at just 10 months old.
