Jukebox Reloaded concert brings in record crowds, with outstanding results
Last Friday, Leicester’s Soul, Funk and R&B bar, Jukebox, hosted their very first concert, ‘Jukebox Reloaded’ in association with Smooth Radio, to celebrate their 1st birthday.
Hosted at the Maher Centre, the venue was buzzing with people on their feet, dancing to 80’s tunes throughout the night. Live performances from Bizzi Dixon, and Soul Kinda Wonderful, got the crowd geared up for the headline act, Alexander O’Neal. However, it was an exceptional performance from Leee John of the soul band ‘Imagination’ that really stole the show.
With over 900 people through the doors, this is the biggest crowd Jukebox have hosted to date, and owner and founder, Shane Whitfield, couldn’t be happier with the results.
“The outcome was better than we expected for the first event, considering it’s a new venue that’s not used to hosting music events, and a brand new event away from Jukebox’s usual venue. To get 926 people through the door on the first event is awesome.”
To cater for the crowd, over 1,000 cans of lager were consumed, and a staggering 2,000 shots of vodka were poured. On average, each person spent nearly £50 inside the venue, creating a tremendous profit for the team.
After a successful night all round, the Jukebox Reloaded Concert is hoped to become a biannual event.
“We’ve already got the Maher Centre booked again for the 25th March, to host the next Jukebox Reloaded concert. The acts for this are already confirmed and due to the outstanding success last week, we will be running the event twice a year.”
All of the acts that attended the concert on Friday, will be performing at Jukebox throughout the duration of 2017, and the team are already in talks with Kenny Thomas and Odyssey about putting dates in the diary for upcoming gigs.
Renowned for hosting great live acts every Friday and resident DJ’s every Saturday, Jukebox, based on St. Nicholas’ Place, has established a great reputation as the home of great entertainment in the city, and now the team have made a great start to reaching out to bigger audiences throughout the UK.
