Award-winning Rothley Wine Estate add ‘Fearless’ to their range of delicious home soil produced wine and we can’t get enough of it.
This wonderfully independent winery is the jewel in the region’s beverage crown. Liz Robson, owner and vintner, started her small but well-stocked harvest of 1,200 vines within the grounds of the former Manor of Rothley. All but one of the estate wines are made in Rothley and with Liz now retired from principle lecturer in midwifery at De Montfort University, she is able to dedicate all her efforts into the increasingly successful vineyard. Attracting a great deal of interest across the region and the rest of the UK, this success story is definitely one to watch.
Upon visiting we were greatly impressed by the ethos of the place, you can tell that Liz's passion for good wine is what has driven the whole thing. How proud we should be that this process is happening right on our doorstep and that buying a Rothley Wine is supporting local. Who knew that buying wine could be so virtuous!?
Our particular favourite of the current range is the newly released (and hotly anticipated!) 'Fearless' wine which was created in honour of Leicester City winning the premier league. With its soft, citrus flavour, a pear base and hints of gooseberry, honey, fennel and elderflower it's similar in taste to a lovely Pinot Grigio.
No stranger to awards, having already experienced medal success in the UK Vineyard Association’s awards taking home silver for their dry white Kind Richard, and bronze for their sparkling pink wine, Spirit of Freedom; Rothley Wine Estate were also short-listed in our Niche Awards this year.
You can find Rothley Wines at a number of local retailers, wine bars and at Ragdale Hall.
