On the 2nd December a member of the Niche Team headed over to Ireland’s most popular attraction; the Guinness Storehouse, Dublin. We wanted to see what all the hype was about and being accurately sign posted and only a ten minute walk from The Temple Bar near where we stayed, it was very handy and easy to get to.
The first thing that stood out was the amazing building designed as a pint of Guinness! We did the self-tour starting from the bottom of the world’s largest pint glass and made our way up through the seven floors. During the tour we noticed the ‘Guinness Made of More’ monument; a large wooden carving of a pint of Guinness made from dyed wood, bronze and fabric standing 3.6 metres tall and weighing two tonnes – this was a real talking point for all who laid eyes on it.
A real treat for the eyes, ears, and taste buds, there were loads of videos, photos and staff with interesting facts as well as a lesson in the perfect way to drink a pint of Guinness. We had an amazing time in the multi-sensory tasting room and the Gravity bar, which had spectacular panoramic views of Dublin with an added bonus of a free pint of Guinness in the famous rooftop Gravity Bar!
Overall, the experience was great and I would definitely recommend it now that I am a converted Guinness lover! A fantastic experience for all the senses is to be had by all with this real unique attraction that offers plenty of surprises along the way.
Nicely done Guinness.
