An incredible night for Hinckley based family firm G. Seller & Co. Ltd as they triumph at the Leicester Mercury Business Awards 2017.

More than 700 people convened in Leicester at the impressive new Leicester Riders Arena last week which was transformed into the dazzling venue  to celebrate the finest businesses in Leicestershire with the culmination of the Leicester Mercury Business Awards 2017. The great and the good of Leicestershire and Rutland’s business community were out in force for the annual celebration of the very best that local industry has to offer.

A great evening celebrating the diversity of great businesses saw G. Seller & Co. Ltd take the title as winners in the ‘Contribution to the Community Award’ beating fellow finalists Leicester City Football Club and Kreative Group Ltd to the crown.

As David Simms, Regional Managing Director of the Trinity Mirror, the owners of Leicester Mercury explains, “These awards are the county’s most prestigious, recognising and rewarding business success, achievement and contribution to Leicestershire’s overall economic growth. Fourteen separate awards showcase businesses of all shapes and sizes doing terrific things and these businesses are a shining example of why we should all remain positive and optimistic about the future, and are testament to the city and county as a place to live, work and do business.”

As Joseph Barsby, Director of G. Seller & Co. Ltd explains, “To have made the final three in the Contribution to the Community Award was a fantastic achievement for a firm like ours and is great recognition for the endeavours of everyone within our organisation.  As a third generation family firm that has been operating for over 100 years, we pride ourselves on supporting the communities in which we live and work and the whole team continue to make a difference to lives throughout the region.  To win this award is an incredible achievement, especially as the competition for the award was so strong.”

As Joseph continues, “I am delighted and humbled by our success.  It is a fantastic endorsement and recognition of the hard work that our team put in throughout the year to meet the needs of the communities in which we operate, something that we are looking forward to replicating in the Glen Parva community where we have just opened a new funeral home.”

Joseph concludes, “We are really proud to have won such a prestigious award and on behalf of all our team who contributed to us winning this award, I would like to thank the judges for all of their endeavours and to thank the Leicester Mercury for showcasing the best of Leicestershire businesses with this award and for hosting such a fantastic event.”
