Staff from Harborough-based estate agency Andrew Granger & Co were in attendance to help judge several categories at the first South Kilworth Riding Club family show of 2017.
The agency has sponsored the club for several years as part of their commitment to supporting initiatives in the local community. Ashling Toolan, Rural Surveyor in the Country Home and Equestrian department at Andrew Granger & Co, was on hand to judge the fun classes in ring 7, which were open to children aged 12 and under. Categories included Best Mane and Tail, Happiest Pony and Rider, Most Appealing Eyes and Prettiest Mare.
South Kilworth Riding Club hold a family oriented show four times throughout the summer at Stanford Hall near Lutterworth. The next show is due to take place in mid-June.
“Judging the show is a lot of fun but it can be a tough task making the final choice,” comments Ashling. “We take our judging responsibilities very seriously as it means a lot to the children and they put so much work into ensuring their ponies are well cared for and beautifully turned out.”
South Kilworth Riding Club was set up in the 1980s and runs classes for all ages and abilities, from complete beginners to experienced riders. The shows attract visitors from all over Leicestershire as well as Northamptonshire, Lincolnshire, Rutland and Warwickshire. In addition to the May event, the dates of the other shows are 11th June, 30th July, and 10th September.
Ashling explains why the agency chose to sponsor the club: “We work very closely with members of the rural community, including equestrian centres and organisations across the East Midlands and so we like to get involved and show our support. SKRC are also keen to build a relationship with their sponsors beyond just financial backing and it’s great to be able to get involved in a more hands-on capacity.”
The Andrew Granger & Co Country Home and Equestrian department specialises in the sale and letting of property in the countryside. The department was set up to meet increased demand across the East Midlands for rural property with land, equestrian facilities and paddocks.
