A digital marketing expert from Leicestershire made up part of a team of international presenters at the annual Leeds Digital festival last month (April).
At the festival, which attracted 20,000 visitors, Jess Shailes of The Ideal Marketing Company joined other experts, including a research fellow at the University of Leeds School of Computing, a speaker from Canada and a professor from the University of Leeds. Jess spoke about ‘AI & E-Privacy’ at the AI meet-up event.
Jess’s presentation at the sold-out event brought an industry-focused perspective to artificial intelligence by exploring how it can be applied within the marketing industry to help meet newly tightened-up requirements regarding privacy such as GDPR and e-privacy.
“AI, specifically machine learning, is behind a lot of innovations in digital advertising, but these innovations may be curtailed by upcoming privacy regulations. While we don’t want to stifle creativity, having one eye on the limitations that are necessary to protect an individual’s rights is sensible,” explains Jess.
The AI meet-up was hosted by Neurons.AI, an online global network for professionals in the artificial intelligence industry to discuss and share knowledge about advances in AI and machine learning.
Leeds Festival Director, Stuart Clarke, said: Numbers may have gone up this year, but the quality has also soared. We’ve seen world-class events being staged every day throughout the fortnight, covering every aspect of the sector.”
Back in Leicestershire, Jess is soon to deliver two new digital marketing seminars at Leicester Racecourse. ‘How to measure digital marketing success with Google Analytics’ will be held on May 23rd. The ‘SEO Toolkit’ which she will co-host with Ideal’s Head of SEO & Digital Content, Hannah Wellings takes place on 6th June. Places can be booked via Eventbrite.
Jess has over ten years’ experience in the fast-moving field of digital marketing. She has headed up digital marketing at The Ideal Marketing Company for over 5 years. Jess has also been named one of the top 5 most connected women in marketing by LinkedIn UK as part of International Women’s Day.
Leeds Digital festival is the largest in the North of England, attracting thousands of visitors during its eleven-day run.
