The National Minimum Wage, National Living Wage and workplace pension contributions are all set to increase in April 2019, with other major changes coming into effect simultaneously. These will include increases to statutory maternity/paternity pay and statutory sick pay, plus itemised payslips showing hourly rates of pay for employees whose wages vary according to the number of hours worked.
Andrea Moran, Payroll & Bookkeeping Manager at Newby Castleman, said: “The government is introducing several big changes to the way in which people are paid, all of which must be factored in to a company’s payroll this April, and all this change could be overwhelming for smaller companies.”
Andrea and her team of payroll experts, based at Newby Castleman’s offices in Leicester and Loughborough, process the payrolls of over 300 separate businesses, including The Grainstore Brewery in Oakham and the Leicester Haymarket Theatre.
“We’ve noticed a steady increase in clients coming to us to handle their payroll, as this can be very time-consuming for a business, especially if it is taking on new employees or making other changes,” Andrea continued. “Having to factor in a lot of additional changes introduced by the government in a short space of time will surely add to that burden.
“We handle the payrolls of over 300 local and regional firms, and have the capacity to take on more. Many of our clients find that they are saving time and money by using our services, which come with the added bonus of Newby Castleman’s decades of experience.”
Julie White, Finance Director at Mint Manufacturing Ltd., said: “Mint have been using Newby Castleman’s payroll service since set-up in 2010. It’s a cost effective way of providing this essential service to our business. The Newby Castleman payroll department is friendly, efficient and supports our business needs. We would not hesitate to recommend them to another business that may be looking to outsource its payroll. Andrea is flexible to our timescales which is essential to our business.”
Stephen Castleman, Partner at Newby Castleman, said: “Andrea and her team offer a specialised service that is helping a lot of companies handle what can be a costly and time-consuming, yet essential, job. Their growing list of clients demonstrates this is an increasingly popular solution, which other firms might want to consider.”
