Earlier this month, local independent travel agency group, Millington Travel was announced as one of the shortlisted local companies to receive a 2019 National Responsible Business Champion Scheme by the All Party Corporate Responsibility Group (APCRG).
The APCRG was set up in 2015 to encourage MPs to take a closer interest in whether companies in their constituencies are operating responsibly and to celebrate the achievements of their best local companies.
Companies recognised as part of the scheme are those achieving in the areas of: engaging with stakeholders to support the local community; investing in healthy workplaces; offering apprenticeships and training; promoting diversity & inclusion in the workplace; working to reduce their environmental impact; and working with suppliers & SMEs to support responsible business practice.
Millington Travel, who has 12 independent travel stores across the Midlands area and employs 75 staff, was nominated for Loughborough, Nicky Morgan’s constituency.
Nick Bland, co-owner of Millington Travel, said: “We were delighted to be nominated as a finalist for this prestigious award. Being recognised as being one of the top companies locally who is working hard in all these key areas is a fantastic reflection of the hard work put in by the team and underpins our passion for the business to deliver operational excellence in all areas.
“Becoming a finalist has definitely given us the momentum to make sure all our 12-strong stores are actively supporting these disciplines and get further involved with local community matters.”
Mr Bland attended the Awards ceremony at London’s Portcullis House in Westminster on Tuesday 16th July 2019.
