Koi Sports CIC welcome Wes Morgan, as their new Grassroots Sports Ambassador

October 30, 2019

Leicester-based Social Enterprise, Koi Sports CIC, are proud to announce the appointment of Leicester City FC Club and Premier League winning Captain, Wes Morgan, as their Sports Ambassador, a national focus but with an emphasis on both Leicester and Leicestershire.

David Johnson-Rayner, Director of Koi Sports CIC, said:

“To say we are thrilled to have a sporting icon such as Wes Morgan agree to join us at Koi Sports CIC has to be the biggest understatement of the year, and is a massive endorsement for the work we carry out on behalf of those people we represent, not only in Leicester and Leicestershire, but also across the Country.”

Initially Mr Morgan will work with Koi Sports CIC to add value, support and promote, their “working partnerships” with Leicester City Council, Kick It Out, iTrust Assurance, and the Commercial Sector, developing fresh thinking around innovative and productive educational and employment pathways for Leicester’s inner-city youth, and young adults, through their “Pay It Forward” programme.

On being asked why he made the decision to become a part of Koi Sports CIC Mr Morgan said:

“It was an easy decision to make. Our work is centred around driving much needed financial investment into the Grassroots Sports Sector, enhancing safeguarding, and providing stability and growth within the sector. The City of Leicester is culturally rich and an extremely diverse place to live, therefore I’m extremely excited to have the opportunity to work with our friends at Kick It Out, promoting the fight against racism and discrimination, and to encourage increased sport inclusion and participation, at all levels within sport, amongst Minority Communities. Having been involved at the highest level within my profession, both nationally and internationally, I am acutely aware of the “power of sport” when it comes to the fight against crime, and by joining Koi Sports CIC as an Ambassador it will also allow me to help drive initiatives which will provide young people and adults with alternatives to a life of crime. I’m excited to be working alongside Gifton (Noel-Williams), David (Johnson-Rayner), Adam (Irvine) and Josh, (Rai) and to playing my part in creating positive and sustainable social change”.
