The HR Dept aims to help leaders turn wellbeing into a competitive edge.

As the UK observes Mental Health Awareness Week (May (13-19), a new webinar is set to help business leaders and HR professionals shift their approach from reactive mental health support to proactive team resilience.
Scheduled for Thursday, May 15 at 1pm, the session will delve into why prioritising mental wellbeing is a strategic move for building high-performing, resilient teams.
In 2024, the UK economy faced an estimated £57.4 billion loss due to work-related mental health issues, nearly doubling in recent years. Additionally, 63% of UK employees exhibited signs of burnout, such as exhaustion and disengagement, marking a significant rise from 51% two years prior.

The webinar will explore how forward-thinking organisations are embedding mental wellbeing into their leadership strategies, not only to support their people but to enhance productivity, retention, and overall business performance.
Nicola Morrison, Director at The HR Dept Leicester & North West Leicestershire, explains: “Mental wellbeing is no longer a side conversation; it’s central to how modern businesses lead, grow, and compete. This Mental Health Awareness Week, we’re encouraging organisations to view well-being not just as support but as strategy.”
The 45-minute webinar promises insights into the tangible business impact of poor mental health; practical approaches to building a wellbeing-first culture; examples of organisations successfully embedding mental health strategies.
