Honey Box Live returns to Leicester this February as part of its wider UK touring series, bringing a live music broadcast and gig to 2Funky Complex designed to support some of the area’s emerging artists and rising starts.
The live show takes place on Sunday 22 February and delivers a one-off pop-up broadcast experience, combining the energy of a live gig but broadcast from a pop-up live tv studio. Following a packed and popular debut at the venue last year, this marks Honey Box Live’s second visit to 2Funky Complex, and headlining the event are 9 O’Clock Nasty, the genre-defying punk trio whose restless sound and refusal to sit still have made them one of Leicester’s most vital underground acts. They are joined by a carefully curated line-up of rising artists including Jake Thompson, RECØDE, and Stoke-based artist Heidi, all of whom have received BBC Introducing support, marking them out as artists on the rise.
Together, the line-up offers a snapshot of a local grassroots scene gaining momentum, spanning abrasive punk, alternative songwriting and emotionally driven rock. Doors open at 4pm, with the live performance and broadcast beginning at 5pm. The show is family-friendly, welcoming all ages into an intimate live broadcast environment built around original music.
Lee Barber, Co-producer of Honey Box Live, said:
“Honey Box Live is about capturing the electricity of a gig while giving artists something lasting from it. Bringing a professionally filmed live broadcast back into 2Funky Complex means performers get both the buzz of a grassroots Leicester crowd and high-quality content that helps move their careers forward. After such a strong debut here last year, returning felt like the perfect way to spotlight the depth of talent in the city and give audiences a front-row seat to artists building real momentum.”
Honey Box’s Amplifying Grassroots Talent Programme, funded by Arts Council England, is a touring live music broadcast project that blends performance, professional production and artist development, creating opportunities for emerging artists to reach new audiences while gaining high-quality content and experience.
