Organisers, The Big Difference charity, has taken over The Cookie.
Big Difference is a registered charity which has been promoting Leicester Comedy Festival since its inception.
They have announced the first shows that will take place at their new venue, The Big Difference, on the High Street this autumn.
Previously known as The Cookie, the venue will open in September with a programme of comedy, music, and other live entertainment.
The first shows to go on sale are from Thursday, September 23 to Sunday, November 21 and include performances by comedians Ignacio Lopez, Edinburgh Award nominated and star of Mock the Week, Olga Koch, Rachel Fairburn and Kae Kurd.
The Big Difference is the first permanent, year-round venue for the producers of the Leicester Comedy Festivals.
Further announcements will be made over the summer about the venue programme, which will include a variety of live entertainment, as well as the details of the autumn launch event on the weekend of Friday, September 17.
Big Difference CEO Laura Arends said: “We are delighted to be opening a permanent venue in Leicester this autumn and it’s an exciting moment to announce the first shows and comedians to appear in our new programme.
“The team are working hard to open the venue in September with an exciting launch event and bringing a varied line-up of entertainment to Leicester in the months ahead.”
The Big Difference is based at 68 High Street, Leicester LE1 5YP. Programme details are subject to the latest Government Covid restrictions as well as licensing and planning applications.
The charity is starting to look forward to the festivals in 2022 and the 30th anniversary of the Leicester Comedy Festival in 2023.
Big Difference also organises a programme of year-round community projects and events.
