The centre has been awarded at the Leicestershire Tourism and Hospitality Awards
The National Space Centre has been awarded the Best Employer for Career Starters at the Leicestershire Tourism and Hospitality Awards. This recognition highlights the Centre’s commitment to providing a supportive and nurturing environment for new employees, particularly those embarking on their first professional roles.
As an educational charity, the National Space Centre’s mission extends beyond serving visitors and students. The Centre places a strong emphasis on supporting its staff, especially those who are new to the workforce. This award is a testament to the success of the Centre’s ‘People Strategy’ and the dedicated efforts of its Human Resources team in fostering an inclusive and collaborative workplace.
Malika Andress, Head of Marketing at the National Space Centre, said: “We are incredibly proud to receive this award as it means so very much to the whole team. We are an award winning visitor attraction and educational charity, but we are only as good as the people who work together every day with passion and skill to achieve our mission together.
"Knowing that we are recognised for nurturing new talents and giving people the confidence to start their career path is humbling and joyous for all of us.”
The Centre's ethos, 'Space for Everyone', is a core value. It believes in teamwork and respect, encapsulated in its principle: ‘We Work TOGETHER - There is space for everyone here. We value teamwork and draw on each other’s expertise. We treat each other with respect. We are one crew.’
The Leicestershire Tourism and Hospitality Awards celebrate excellence across the local tourism industry. The National Space Centre is honoured to be recognised for its contributions both as an educational charity and as an employer.
