Music venture raises money for local homelessness charity

The company is on track to raise its annual target of £2,500.

Leicester based music licensing company, PPL PRS Limited, raised £866 in October for local charity Help the Homeless Leicester after a companywide fundraising campaign.

The business initially set a target of £450 to fund the purchase of kitchen starter packs for recently housed individuals.

Help the Homeless Leicester Services Manager, Vanessa Ghelani said of PPL PRS Limited’s involvement: “PPL PRS's generosity will make a very real difference to the lives of people in need.

"Our organisation will use the funds to support our projects assisting local people who are experiencing homelessness, including those living on the streets or in very insecure circumstances.

"Thank you to PPL PRS for supporting our mission to reduce homelessness in Leicester and assisting us in rebuilding lives.”

Help the Homeless Leicester supports homeless people across Leicester by providing a wealth of fundamental services to those living without accommodation. The local charity runs a range of projects to support mental health and substance abuse, provide emergency housing, and help source and acquire long-term sustainable accommodation.

Employees at PPL PRS chose Help the Homeless Leicester as the charity they wished to support this year. So far, the business has raised £2,249.71.

The money was raised with activities such as a sponsored marathon in which 18 members of staff covered the equivalent of 26.2 miles by walking, running and cycling during the month of May, raising £1,230.

Helen Stretton, Internal Communications and Engagement Specialist for PPL PRS, said: “We are delighted with the response we had to our October campaign to raise money for starter packs, not just from our employees but also the wider public.

"As the winter months approach, the need to help provide support for those less fortunate than ourselves becomes even more important. The work that Help the Homeless Leicester are doing is vital, and it is an honour to work with them.

"We are on track to raise, and hopefully beat, our annual target amount of £2,500.”
