Free kebabs are up for grabs for one day only when new Berlin street-food diner Döner Shack opens in Highcross on Friday, June 10.

The authentic, freshly-baked kebabs (complete with home-made signature sauces and a choice of salads) will be free to anyone who visits Döner Shack between 12pm and 4pm.

You just need to secure your free kebab by receiving a code.

Located next to John Lewis in St Peter's Square, the restaurant will officially open the following Saturday (June 11) when people can take full advantage of the German-style menu.

Serving up 'unrivalled' and ethically sourced ingredients with convenience and speed, we're excited to see if Döner Shack lives up to taste expectations.

The managing director promises the menu challenges the status quo of kebabs in Leicester. He says it's taken years to perfect.

"Leicester is the perfect fit for our fresh and tasty brand"

Sanjeev Sanghera, co-founder and managing director, said: “At Döner Shack, we believe that people shouldn’t have to compromise when it comes to quality, taste or dining experience.

"This is why we have worked tirelessly to perfect each of these elements ahead of our opening, bringing a new taste sensation to the city.

"Increasingly, our customers want to know where their food is coming from and the ethical impact it has on the environment and labour around the world."

Also on the menu is halloumi and falafel, vegan schnitzel and currywurst and a selection of milkshakes and German soft drinks. A children’s menu is also available.

Sanjeev added: “Coming from humble beginnings, we are evolving into a multi-site business with big plans for the future and we feel incredibly excited to introduce Leicester to our exceptional kebabs, giving locals the chance to taste the difference for themselves.

"After Leeds and Manchester, Leicester seemed the obvious choice to open our next restaurant.

"As well as being a vibrant and incredibly charming city, it has the most diverse and distinctive communities in the UK, and we’re thrilled to be part of it.

"Leicester is the perfect fit for our fresh and tasty brand."

The launch will kickstart Döner Shack’s fundraising for local charity, Cash for Kids Midlands.

They'll be raising money to help improve the lives of disadvantaged children who are affected by poverty, illness, neglect or have additional needs.
