Anyone who knows me, knows I LOVE France. In 2023 I was lucky enough to visit Paris and Bordeaux. The architecture of both French cities, the people, the culture, the arts…and perhaps top of the list, the food and wine!
When Bistrot Pierre Leicester invited me to their Soirée Gastronomique Night – which are held every second and fourth Tuesday of the month – myself and my partner were delighted. We could re-live some of that French culture that we love without needing our passports.
For just £29.95, diners can enjoy six courses of specially designed French cuisine showcasing the best of French dining.
A chilly night in December, I remarked at how I loved the authentic thick velvet curtain at the door (as is typical of a classic French bistro) and the warm and inviting décor to my boyfriend. We could genuinely have been stepping into a little bistro in Paris.
We promptly sat at our lovely window seat table and were shown the wine list – we chose a couple pretty quickly – after our Bordeaux and Saint-Emilion trip in the autumn, we knew a little of what we were looking for. I always like an expert opinion though and our friendly waitress helped us pick from the two we were pondering.
In our opinion the menu was perfect, from the starter of French onion soup, through to the roasted squash secondary starter, beef medallions with pave potatoes, crème caramel dessert and a selection of French cheese. We knew to save some red wine for the cheese course and it paired perfectly. Coffee and a Petit Four completed the six-course French feast!
The surroundings, the food and the service all really did transport us to France. It's incredible value for money. We will definitely be back.
Paris in February, Bordeaux in October and… a slice of them both in Leicester for a few hours at Bistrot Pierre.
