Green Dragon Square will be the first pop-up location.
Leicester is set to welcome three pop-up outdoor dining spaces this summer as Dine in the Square launches on Wednesday, May 12.
Dine in the Square will see three new spaces created to offer al fresco dining, with delivery from restaurants and food outlets across the city centre.
The three pop-up locations will be in Green Dragon Square, St Martin’s Square and St Peter’s Square, with all three open from May to September 30. This will create 54 additional tables for customers to enjoy the best of Leicester’s dining scene.
The concept has been designed by BID Leicester, who have partnered with Yoello to offer an at table mobile ordering service.
Customers will be able to sit with a group and each enjoy a meal from a different establishment, as orders are processed through unique table QR codes. Customers will simply take a seat and use a mobile device to order food from surrounding restaurants to be delivered directly to their table.
The Yoello service has been fully funded by BID Leicester.
With a range of cuisines on offer from burgers and pimped fries to Vietnamese and Thai dishes, there’s no need to deliberate over which restaurant to book for dinner.
Businesses who have signed up to take part in Dine in the Square include Crafty Burger, Giggling Squid, Kai, Pai, Mowgli, Orton’s Brasserie, Chutney Ivy, 1573, Pho, Subway, Chinese Snack Box, Inside No. 9, Desi Street Food, Dama Rose, Tandem, with more to be confirmed.
Guy Kersey, owner of Orton's Brasserie, commented, “We can’t wait to welcome customers back into Orton’s and Dine in the Square offers us a wonderful opportunity to extend our reach with our food and drinks menus. We’ll be delivering food into Green Dragon Square and look forward to offering customers a new way to enjoy our signature dishes."
Simon Jenner, Director of BID Leicester, added, “We’re delighted to be launching Dine in the Square across the city centre. It’s vital for us to support our hospitality businesses through the reopening period and beyond, and this will offer them an opportunity to reach an increased audience of customers.
"The risk of Covid-transmission in outdoor settings is very low, so this offers customers a great way to catch up with friends and family over good food in safe way.
"The new social spaces will provide a wonderful new dimension to our city centre as we look forward to a much brighter few months ahead.”
Dine in the Square will launch on Wednesday, May 12 at Green Dragon Square, St Martin’s Square and St Peter’s Square, with all tables operating on a first come first served basis.
