A record number of people came to learn about space in 2023.
The National Space Centre has hit a record high for number of visitors in 2023, welcoming 330,731 people through its doors in a single year.
It beat out the previous record of 328,415 visitors in 2019, set before the centre had to shut its doors in 2020. After this, a daily visitor cap was introduced to prevent overcrowding and even with this implemented, the space centre still broke its own record.
The National Space Centre’s Chief Executive, Chas Bishop said: "Space is such an exciting subject. We are so grateful that people choose The National Space Centre to find out more and, we hope, have a lot of fun.
"The decision to cap daily visitor numbers has worked out well and new interactive experiences such as the TetraStar Spaceport have added a different dimension to the visit. We have also invested heavily in online content so that visitors can keep up to date with everything that is going on in space and, perhaps, use it to help with their studies."
The Space Centre are hoping to beat this record yet again by the end of 2024, with plenty of events from home education days and accessible afternoons to geek events and film club evenings.
