Leicester runners on your marks...

Run Leicester half marathon returns on Sunday, October 30.

The hugely-popular Run Leicester event returned last year following a two-year break and will once again both start and finish at Leicester’s Victoria Park.

Open to all abilities, the event is expected to attract runners ranging from enthusiastic amateurs to club athletes from Leicester and beyond.

Andrew Ward, Race Director says: "We have an incredible running community here and we cannot wait to be at the heart of that.

“This really is a big city event for everybody to be a part of. We hope as many people as possible will join us in cheering, chanting and celebrating on the day.”

With the streets to themselves, runners will start by heading through the centre and out along Leicester’s Golden Mile, before looping back in via Watermead Park and Abbey Park.

After taking in more of the city, the final push up the idyllic New Walk will see runners cross the finish line.

The Run Leicester Half Marathon will have a renewed focus on creating a memorable experience for all. With high-energy entertainment stationed along the route, friends, family and spectators can all be a part of the day.

Run Leicester is an entirely not-for-profit event, with proceeds donated to the events Official Charity Partner, LOROS Hospice.

Organisers are encouraging runners to make every step count and consider taking on the 13.1 miles for LOROS or a charity of their choice this year.

Places for the Run Leicester Half Marathon are priced at £31 for a limited time only if you register before Tuesday, May 31.

All runners will receive a finisher’s medal.
