Leicestershire Business Voice (LBV), welcomed around 120 members and guests from the Leicester and Leicestershire business community to its annual members’ dinner on May 8 at Leicestershire County Cricket Club.

Guests heard from keynote speaker, The Rt Hon Liz Kendall, MP for Leicester West, and Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, who praised the resilience and innovation of local businesses and stressed how vital it is that government listens directly to the challenges faced by local businesses.

She also spoke about the importance of new trade deals, workforce issues, and the role of Leicester and Leicestershire businesses in driving future growth.

Liz Kendall MP commented: “It was a pleasure to meet with, hear from and celebrate local businesses that make a vital contribution to our economy and community. By working together through LBV the collective voices of businesses are strengthened and amplified.”

Sue Tilley, Chair of LBV, added: “We were delighted to see so many members and guests on the night, with a host of business leaders representing a broad cross-section of market sectors.

"We also had a couple of recent recipients of King’s Awards in the audience and it was great to welcome such a prestigious keynote speaker as Liz Kendall MP, which in itself, is recognition of the high stature of our local business community.

“It was a proud moment for LBV and a reminder of the influence that we can have when we come together.”
