Leicester based PPL PRS Ltd Managing Director, Andrea Gray has been named Businesswoman of the Year at the Niche Business Awards 2020.
Andrea was shortlisted last spring after being recognised for her success and exceptional leadership skills.
She said “It is an honour to be awarded Businesswoman of the Year at such an important event for the region. I would also like to say congratulations to the other finalists Tajnder Banwait and Zinthiya Ganeshpanchan, who are both incredibly talented and hardworking.
"Celebrating the success of women in business remains hugely important to me so I am grateful to have been chosen, particularly considering the skills and successes of my fellow nominees.
"I never cease to be amazed at the innovation and talent within this city. Congratulations to all those who were nominated and thank you to Niche and Cross Productions for hosting such a fantastic event.”
The Niche Business Awards celebrates the best of Leicestershire, including some of the hardest working and successful individuals, businesses, and charities from the region.
Since launching her career at 17, Andrea who has over 30 years’ experience in operational leadership, has held senior positions at organisations across the country, including NTL and Nuffield Health.
After accepting the role of Operations Director at Hastings Direct and setting up their third UK contact centre in Leicester, she joined the newly formed music venture, PPL PRS in late 2019.
The not-for-profit organisation, which is based at Mercury Place, issue TheMusicLicence to UK business and organisations who use music in their premises for staff and customers.
Having watched the company grow from when it launched back in 2017, Andrea had always been interested in the organisation.
Joining PPL PRS came at a time when she felt ready to embark on something different in her career and gave her the opportunity to run the whole business rather than just the operational side.
With business values which include ‘value music’ and ‘collaborative’, PPL PRS aims to provide UK businesses and organisations with a much simpler and streamlined process to playing music legally, while ensuring those who create music are fairly paid for their work.
A total of 14 awards were presented at the Niche Business Awards ceremony, which took place virtually last Friday with a roaring 20s theme, including ‘Best New Business’, ‘Best Small Business’ and ‘Digital Business of the Year’.
