In a time when corporate social responsibility (CSR) plays an pivotal role in shaping community well-being, it is important to shine a light on organisations that go above and beyond. British Gas is one such organisation. Their extraordinary contributions to The Zinthiya Trust over the years deserve recognition as it has helped making a difference to many individuals and families in our community.

Creating moments of joy: A day at the seaside

For many of the women and families supported by The Zinthiya Trust, a trip to the seaside is an unattainable luxury. This year, British Gas changed that. They fully funded a trip to the seaside for over 30 families, covering everything from transportation to refreshments and even ice creams. The joy and memories created on this day were immeasurable, offering a rare opportunity for families to escape their daily challenges and simply enjoy life.

Emergency support for women in crisis

British Gas employees also took part in a volunteer day at their head office, where approximately 50 team members worked together to assemble 100 emergency packs. These bags, filled with essential toiletries, are a lifeline for women who find themselves in sudden, vulnerable situations, such as fleeing from abuse or being hospitalised unexpectedly. Their care and thoughtfulness in preparing these packs ensured that women in crisis receive not only practical help but also a message of support and hope.

British Gas spreading christmas cheer

Christmas can be an especially challenging time for families in need, but British Gas has stepped up to make the season brighter for at least 100 children and their families. Two dedicated employees have been shopping for weeks to purchase thoughtful gifts for the children, along with a special family gift. The presents are then meticulously wrapped, sorted by age and gender, and distributed at The Zinthiya Trust’s Christmas celebration on 23 December. British Gas volunteers will also be present to help spread the festive cheer.

In addition, on 19 December, British Gas volunteers will join The Zinthiya Trust at the hub to organise and bag food donations for families to collect. These efforts ensure that families not only have presents to open but also enjoy a warm and hearty Christmas meal.

A testament to the power of CSR

British Gas’s involvement with The Zinthiya Trust is a shining example of what corporate social responsibility can achieve. From enabling life-changing moments to providing essential resources, their consistent and heartfelt contributions make a tangible difference to the community. These efforts also inspire others to step forward and support organisations like The Zinthiya Trust, amplifying the impact on those in need.

In a world where good deeds can sometimes go unnoticed, it is vital to celebrate the organisations and individuals who make a difference. British Gas is proving that businesses can be powerful forces for good, and their work with The Zinthiya Trust sets a benchmark for CSR initiatives everywhere.

In addition, British Gas through it’s charitable arm the British Gas Energy Trust has been supporting the Money and Energy advise project of the Zinthiya Trust since 2014 – "This support has been the life line of the Zinthiya Trust and has not only helped us provide advise and practical help to over 20,000 families over the years but has also enabled us to build our capacity and grow as a charity.” Charity founder Zinthiya Ganeshpanchan commented.

Let’s applaud their efforts and encourage more organisations to follow their lead in making the world a kinder, more supportive place for all.
